The British Colonial Rule spread far beyond the nine unique mountain ranges in the Himalayan belt and reached Manipur in the early pages of history. Many dramatic episodes occurred in this tiny kingdom resulted in by the external unwanted forces alongwith the divide and rule policy of the British. Lamyanba Irabot had faced a hard period of many social anad political issues hand in hand with many courageous Manipuri mothers,who are later on beingregarded and homoured as Freedom Fighters against the British Rule by the Independent India, today.

12the of December, every year, is being observed as "NUPI LAL" DAY (the women's Uprising) by the State Government and many organisation observe the day with varieties of the month long programmes commemorating the women's movement against the thin minimised royal out rule and the British Political Policy.

December 12, Tuesday, 1939 will remain as the emotional and heart-throbbing day in the history of Manipur. The starved families of Manipur came out for some rice led by the mothers. But what did they achieve? Laathi charge resulting in bloodshed in front of the Telegraph Office. The drops of blood from the courageous Manipuri mothers remain and will remain RED forever in the minds of Manipuris of generation to come.
